My name is Randy Huenergardt.
I have had a love and passion for training Labrador Retrievers since 1980 when I purchased my first lab, Bear.
I was very lucky with Bear. I bought him from a back yard breeder; something I have since learned is not such a great idea. Fortunately Bear was an exceptional dog and got me hooked on running field trials and then AKC Hunt Tests.
At that time, I was living in Oregon and joined the Oregon Retriever Trial Club. Thru them, I met the right people who helped me get started on the right path.
Along with my brother, Dennis’s help and Mr. John Poer, plus other field trialers, Bear became the first dog in the Oregon club to achieve his AKC “Master Hunter Title”.
At that point, people started bringing their dogs to me to train and I knew then that I wanted to train dogs the rest of my life.
My job as a plumbing warehouse manager allowed me to transfer to Montana in 1990, a life long dream of mine.
I was working full time, raising a family, training dogs and started a boarding kennel, The Bitterroot Pet Palace.
As my training business increased and the boarding kennel grew more successful, I decided I was doing well enough to quit my plumbing job and finally do what I love to do, train the best breed of hunting dog there is, the “Labrador Retriever”.
My wife, Kimbra and I, married in October, 2010. Our honeymoon was spent in Corning California at the AKC Master National Hunt Test.
Together we enjoy training dogs, hunting, fishing, riding horses, riding our motorcycle, watching sports and MMA fighting, playing with the grand kids, and just enjoying each other’s company.
We live in our beautiful house in Florence, Mt. on 10 acres with 8 dogs, 2 big horses, 6 miniature horses and 2 miniature cows.
